H1 issue

HI,
I have applied h1 for my wife . Her case is still pending as USCIS requested for more documents . She is planning to go India for some personal reason & she will be back only in 2008 Mar/april, My question is whether its possible for her to go in H4 & come in H4 ...After she comes her H1 will come in to amendment......I would like to know whether its possible to go in H4 & return back in H4 without activating H1 & attensing interviews in consulate...

Yes. But your H1 change of status will be denied. You can amend it once you come back, all takes lot of time and money
