I've applied for H1 ext on Mar 1st, I plan to go India on end of august. Is there a chance I would get my extension before august?
-- You should check the service center processing times; you will come to know what date they are processing. Nobody can guarantee you on what date you will get H1extension approval in hand
if not, any alternate way to go india. Pls let me know.
--- Do you have valid H1 visa in your passport?( even if with any past employer name on it) if you have valid H1 visa sticker in your PP you can come back to US on that H1 Visa.
---If your H1 extension is approved while you are out of US then get the H1 extension approval mailed to you in India and get H1 visa sticker from US consulate in India and re-enter
----- If you enter on existing H1 visa sticker and your H1 extension is approved while you have reached US you will get new I-94 attached with the extension and that I-94 will govern your status.
--- If you can wait till the H1 extension approval, then take the H1 extension with you to India and get H1 Visa sticker in Passport,
--- Check daily online status with your receipt #

My old stamping expires only at 2005.
If i come back without valid paper[ie H1 approval] of my current employer , i would face a problem in the immigration is't?
I heard from my friend that if i say to immigration, i am still working for old employer, immigration will let me in.

which service center did u apply? If you applied in california, then I am not sure if you will have your extension approved by august. For other service center, you have a better chance.
Keep checking the processing times and H1 tracker thread.
You can comeback in your existing H1 visa as long as it has not expired. Dont comeback unless you are absolutely sure that your extension was not going to be approved till you comeback to the USA. If it gets approved while you are in India, then wait in India and get the approval notice mailed to you and get a new H1 visa. Or, if you have unexpired visa, you can enter using that visa but you can get I-94 based on the extension approval notice.
