H1 extension

My friend's H1 is into the 7 year i.e he is on his first extension based on a pending GC application. This extension is only valid till Oct 2006. He has currently got a job offer from another employer and intends doing an H1 transfer. My understanding is that he would be OK till October if the transfer happens immediately. But my question is what about after that. Does he have to go back to home country for a year before he comes back. Can he get another extension on H1 through new employer given that the GC was filed by the employer he is leaving and who may revoke the GC appication.

Please let me know.

at what stage is your friend?
LC pending more than year or I-140 also filed or approved

His labor has been filed and not yet approved. LC pending more than one year.

You can get 8th year extension with H1B transfer from Company A based on pending labor from company B. It is not required that you have pending labor with Company A to get extension with company A.

But Can he get further H1 extensions(say 9th) through Company A. The reason for asking this question is, the pending labour is with Company B. On what basis he will get further extensions through Company A.

----------- If the LC is pending more than 1 year (it can be filed by company A, B, C, D) person can get 7th year 8th year 9th year H1 extensions if that LC is PENDING more than 1 year (through A B C D E F) and person can get Extensions through new company G H I J K L based on Pending LC evidence filed through any company But if that LC is Withdrawn by previous employer then no extensions based on Pending LC
