H1 Extension Questions

Hello,
Can anyone answer the following questions I have regarding H1-Extensions:

1) How to apply for H1-Extension. My H1-B is due to expire in May 2003. Do I have sufficient time to apply for an extension? If so, what is the procedure?

2) Can I apply it outside US. Can I apply from India or any other country or do I have to be in US to do it?

3) Do we get automatic multiple entry visa or do we have to get the multiple entry done again after we get the extension?

4) Do we have to apply for extension for dependents also (if any)?

1. Consult the lawyer/employer who did your first h1. The procedure is nearly same as the first one. U need a LCA extension (dept of labor) and I129 set of forms to be filed with INS.
2. No need to be in US. Usually en employer applies for H1...
3. If U are outside US, it is better to appear for a new interview at the consulate or apply for restamping ...
4. If U are in US, U better attach I539 for your dependents. If U are outside US, visa application at the consulate will take care of your dependents.

some more question about mutliple entry

I am in USA, applied my H1B extention from texas INS last octobar 2003, still waiting for my H1B extension to arrive.

After getting the H1B extension, what is the procedure to get the multiple entry visa stamped on my Passport

oct 2002? what is your previous status- if it is not H1, you need to go out of US to get the new multiple entry visa

My previous status is H1.
(1) I got my first 3 year H1 in 2000 Jan
(2) I have gone to Mexico for multple entry for the first 3 years H1 visa.
(3)First 3 year H1 has expired in 2003 Jan.
(4) SO applied my next 3 years extention in October 2002. I didn't get the H1 extention till now(May 15 2003).
(5) If i get the H1 Extention, what is the procedure for getting the multiple entry stamped on my passport without going out USA. What are the documents required. What are the chance of getting.
