Hi,

I am a canadian PR (indian citizen) working in US for the past 2+ years on H1-B and I have a valid I-797 but no visa stamp on the passport (as it was not required for the canadian PR's) . I am planning to visit India from the US shortly and was wondering if I need a visa stamp on my passport to be able to return back to US due to the proposed new regulations? Any ideas/suggestions or feed-back on this would be highly appreciated.

Also, if I have to get the visa stamped in India will I be able to apply using the drop-box facility there ? and what time frame should I be expecting for stamping process?

Thanks again for your advice.

yes , If you are not entering US from Canada, U need a visa stamp. It should not take more than 7days. But if U can get the stamp from Canada, it will be easier for you later.

Thanks! jaxen for your response.

Can you pls. clarify further as to what exactly u mean by "But if U can get the stamp from Canada, it will be easier for you later"

I was under the impression that Canadian PR's don't get a visa stamp in Canada (atleast till recently). That's the reason I was thinking of getting that done in India. Pls. let me know if I am missing something.

Thanks again.
