H1 B Visa Extension

Hello,

My H1 B visa expires on the 5th of March, 2009. I am going to file for extension. Should I actually get my visa approval before the 5th of March (which usually takes about 2 months at the minimum) or is it enough to have my extension filed before the 5th of March?

So long as your extension request was received by USCIS prior to March 5th, you remain in status and your employment authorization is automatically extended by up to 240 days until the extension is approved.
