I am a B2-F1-H1 case. I am planning to go to Toronto for multiple entry first time. Can people please post experiences in Toronto in general and if you had B2-F1-H1 in particular ?
Also is there a Scotia bank in or near the consulate so you can deposit the fees ?
Has anybody have experience of being rejected by Toronto, and the crossed back via Buffalo Bridge ?
Appreciate all help I can get. Thanks.

hi guys;
getting a multiple entry visa from b2-f1-h1 depends on your luck and the paperwork. b2-visitor to f1(how long your were on on f1)and h1 how long?... this is what a consular officer looks at when you present your papers. If somebody has already filed for your IV, then the chances are very slim. If you drive then you can come back to US using your I94 at the border. Consular officer looks at the papers to get your intention and if he determines that you are doing all these status changes to stay in us, then the chances are very slim..don\'t try to convince the officer and get into more trouble...
I hope this helps

others cannot see your intent, they can only see the behaviour. So try to project a calm and a professional image and try to act like you are using the privilege(h1-multiple entry)to get the visa.
when you go for this visa interview make sure you take all the documents(original):
I94,ALL I-120\'S(extensions, change in programs etc), original h1, h1 from the current company, current employment certificate, 3-4 most recent pay stubs, prepare a short answer list for the justification questions like your study to your work, why you changed your status from b2 to f1, f1 to h1, if somebody has already applied applied for IV in family category, then explain to them that it is going to take 10-30 years hence you don\'t want to wait for that. Don\'t lie on anything about an immigration pettition pending etc. Don\'t show too much of eagerness, be casual and go well prepared with a business casual dress or a formal dress. take copies of all your docs. Completely fill OF156(application form) completely.
wish you all lots and lots of good luck and success in getting this visa.

hi naushad

good luck to you...are you driving or flying? I am going to vancouver on the 21st...and I need some advice/suggestions on how to get there did yuou have much trouble getting your canadian visa?...also did you finish your degree while on a F-1 here?

Hi wired1

I am flying into buffalo and then driving down to Toronto. I had no problems with Canadian Visa. Just sent all documents and got visa from their consulate in LA. It took them 1 week by speedpost. From what I heard Canadian consulate is getting strict with jurisdiction so best apply at consulate closest to you.
I completed both my Bachelors and Masters degrees on F1. I have heard that not completing at least one degree is pretty much grounds for refusal.
Anyway best of luck. I guess since its not in our hands atall, just wish for the best and dont worry.

Hi wired1

Best you take Greyhound bus from Seattle to Vancouver. Seems the best soln to me. Be careful as flying is extremely dangerous if visa is refused.

hi naveen

well it really seems complicated now as I heard that driving in is very bad if your visa is refused and flying is better...so I was planning to fly until your post...did you come in on an F1? then it is not so complicated at all so don\'t worry...You shd have no problem except they may ask why you didn\'t go to india and get it done why canada...? also why did you pick toronto is it better there?

wired1

I came here nearly 9 yrs ago on B2. I then changed to F1. I completed my bachelors degree on F1, then Masters degree. Always been in status never left the country. Have been working on H1 since 2 yrs for a premier multinational company... I wouldnt do this unless I had to go to India, but now I really do.
From speaking with ppl, they say that road is best. I am no immig lawyer but that is the best based on what ive heard.
I am going to Toronto as I have friends there. I am also going to Canada because if for some reason I get stuck I definitely any day would prefer being stuck in Canada than in Mexico. Also I am going with a positive attitude. What the hec even if I dont get the visa I get a vacation. Thats why Im staying there 4-5 days and seeing the place.
Best of luck to u

wow!!

9 years huh? yup it\'s time you got to go home my friend...I guess you\'re right we shd take the chance and see what happens...carpe diem...Also it\'d be great if I could get in touch with you after your interview so I can figure out what to do; if you don\'t mind please let me know how to contact you while you are there or after you come back.....my email address is sumilouis@yahoo.com....hope you get your visa....good luck.

Hi
I didn\'t get the visa. I tried to convince the officer with all the questions he asked and at the final moment he asked me to show the original I20. I had a copy but the original was in the school itself. I gave him my International students advisor\'s number and asked him to check. But he asked me to bring that and refused under 221g(documents verification). I think they can refuse only under two reasons---221(g) or ask you to go to your home country to get the visa. Please do not make any travel arrangements or any commitments until have your visas at hand as I had done this and lost lot of money as well as emotional stress.
good luck and let all your dreams come true

I drove to Montreal from Boston. The consular officer arranged the papers by date(First I94 TO Current status). He asked my why did you change your program? to extend my F1 stay, started talking to himself that all these changes are done to stay in US...ETC. After that he asked me show all the transcripts, h1 papers, looked into my passport and asked me for my original I20(which i had left in my school). I tried to explain to him about the long wait for IV visas and that i would like to stay on h1 for the remaining time and settle down. But he was not prepared to listen. He gave all my papers back along with I94. I drove back from Montreal and at the border post asked me about visa. I told him that I am on h1. He just saw my I-94 and didn\'t ask any further(less than 30 secs at the border).
