They say more than enough but not how many

the chances with 61k applications (i,e. 1k over the limit) are way different with 200K applications (waaaay over the limit)

Since master quota 20k has been already filled, I guess amount received for regular quota could be really huge.

I hope Master's quota should have reached just above 20K. When we will be able to know whether the petition is accepted or not? I have filed under PP.

who knows. might be just over 20k or way more.
however, remember that 65k was filled on the 1st 2 days, but master quota lasted til end of April last year. In this year, the master quota got filled within the 1st 7 days, and I assume that regular quota got filled proportionally to the master quota's pace.. That could be a big number and not good sign for regular quota.

New York Times says 165,000 petitions were filed.

Federal immigration authorities received about 163,000 petitions for temporary work visas for highly skilled immigrants for the year starting Oct. 1, officials said Thursday, nearly twice as many as the number of visas available.
