Hello everyone....i am recent M.S (Biology) graduate. I am on OPT and i am currently pursuing a position with a county in California. I haven't heard of anyone who has obtained their H1 visa from a position with County or govt positions. I was just wondering if anyone here has had the experience to work for the county/govt and was able to obtain their H1. We have not reached the point of discussing the H1, but i am just wondering in case i am pursuing a hopeless case. The job does relate to my filed of study. Any input will be greatly appreciated

There is not much different. Unless your job is classified as non-profit, this H1 come under quota.
Nost of the County & City jobs are come under cap.

H1B visa, county jobs and prevailing wage

@ great guru...i thank you for your response, i didn't think anyone was ever going to respond so i stopped checking. I am not sure i followed your answer as my question was whether there is a possibility of me getting an H1 visa from a county job. Has anyone been able to receive H1 visa sponsorship from a county job?
Another question too, is I have a master's in Biology. I have been offered a job as a microbiologist in San Bernardino the job is offering $16/hr and a lawyer i contacted out here told me it is below the prevailing wage and my employer has refused to increase my pay. My employer also will not pay any processing fees i have to pay everything. The lawyer i contacted said that the prevailing wage now has to be 100%...does anyone have a similar situation and what did they do? I have been trying to look for another job and that is how i came across the county job i was asking about.

For your County minimum prevailing wage is $22.33 per hour.

County or city can sponser anybody for H1 if they qualify, and there is no difference between county and private business.

County H1 can be approved without much scrutiny.
