Hi,
I have a question
Please any body can help.
H1 6 years (is it the actual time spend in us or it counts from the date it is approved)
I got my H1 aproved in July 1996
But I went to visa stamping in Dec 1996 and entered this country in February 1997
S0, my 6 years is from july 1996 or from february 1997
somebody told that if i am out of country for sometime (vacation to India)
that time can be added extra to my 6 years
Is it true

Please help me on this since i am really worried
Thanks

Depends on what status you came from. If you had practical training prior then you might want not to have any non-status gaps.
However for all practical purposes the date on I94 with H1 should be the start date or the start date given by your employer (paystub...) whichever is earlier.

It starts from february 1997

If you\'d come directly here for your job and if it was your first trip. And I\'ve heard people getting their 6-yr limit extended by excluding their vacation outside the US. So give it a try but you\'ve to inform your lawyer about it so that he can get all your vacation dates.

6 years is counted from they day you entered in US. If you have been out of US on leave with out pay that time can also be recaptured.
