H-4 status while H-1B apply for extension

Hi guys,

My H-1B is expiring January 01,2004. My wife's H-4 is expiring the same day. My lawyer is prepaing my H-1B extension right now. I am wondering after my H-1B got extended, is my wife's H-4 automatically got extended. Or do I need to ask lawyer to prepare her extension as well.

Any suggestion is helpful,

beware

h4 is NOT automatically extended if you extend your h1. this is a very common mistake leading to big trouble.

you HAVE to apply for h4 extention before the expiration of the current h4.

Ask your lawyer to file h4 extension for your wife also. You should do this.
