------- with valid H1 you can transfer H1 with new company if needed in future, with valid H1 status you can bring your spouse on H4, if any problems with I-140 or I-485 you will have H1 status to stay and work. if getting married in future can bring spouse on H4 and can file his/her I-485 in US
if you use EAD, you will NOT be on H1 and can not extend H1. you will always need AP filed and approved IN US before you depart US for rentry to US. you will also need to apply EAD renewal 6 months advance before expiry of EAD to be safe.
** H1 status has more advantages to you. If I am in your situation I will file for 7th year H1 extension.
