H 1 limit- combined for spouses?

is it true that the 6 yrs of H 1 are combined for spouses...i mean if i do 2 years of H 1 and my husband starts his after 2 then he gets only 4 yrs for his H 1?

A little misunderstanding.
The perioid of H1+H4 can not be more than 6 years. If husband was F1 while you were on H1 for 2 years, your husband can get 6 years with new H1. I husband was H4 while you were on H1 for 2 years, he can get only 4 years.

thank you for that clarification...

.if both of us get our own H 1 s( from the present F 1 and F 2) this year , then basically we have 6 each....i think this is what i basically wanted to confirm .

Yes, it will be for each 6 yrs with new H1's provided only, if none of you were on H4 visa.

Anyone who is on H4 would get H1 for 6 yrs - H4 yrs.
