Guys who got Magic Emails

Approved I-485 on 07/20/2007

Hi Guys,
We have received magic e-mail on 07/20/2007 at 8:24 PM (PST). It was very unusual to receive Approval e-mail so late in the day so got this news next day morning.
Any way, I want to thank you all folks who shared their experiences and answers the queries. This forum is very useful and I give more importance to people practical experiences posted here in this forum than lawyer's theoratical guidence.
For me it was long journey (since June 2002) more than 5 years. It was very frustrating also. As mentioned by so many people, USCIS should follow FIFO concept and should not approve the cases randomly, otherwise some people become lucky and for some it becomes "waiting for forever" game.
I wish all the best for all those who are still waiting for the magic e-mail.

I just got email for card production.

I had several friends whose pd is way after me but got approved. I called IO yesterday and per him, my name is waiting for name check since OCT 2004. I gave up after hearing the news and was exploring the possibility of contacting my senator ( John Cornyn ). I opened S/R also last Friday. I filed my AP also Friday in which I accidentally mentioned wrong A#.

I filed i-485 for my wife on 2nd July as I got married after filing my i-485. I am waiting for her receipt. Here is my timeline:-

140/1485 RD– 1st/OCT/2004 ( No rfe)
FP = OCT 2004 , NOV 2005 , 2006 and April 2007 ( Total 4 FP).

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On July 23, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

What does ADIT Processing mean

Hello all GC Gurus. I got a similar email to kpkgc. I have NO IDEA what ADIT processing mean. Does any one know? Has any one else received this in their emails from USCIS? If so, how long does the card take to reach you.

...while others may have just begun. The actual card arrived in the mail today. There is a sense of relief but also a sense of indifference, surprisingly.

If you wait for something too long, you don't care too much for it. If you stay hungry too long, then your hunger dies out to some extent, it's like that. Maybe the feelings will change again in the next few days. I don't know how this will impact immediate life's plans...

Even today, after receiving the card, the I-485 last LUD is from March 2005 indicating that my case was transfered to local office. Recent follow-up has happened on USCIS' web-site based on a I-181 Receipt Notice that I received in the last few days. I have been following that LIN number and finding where the case stands. But in general, on my original application, there have been zero updates. Not even after I went for most recent fingerprinting early this year.

This is the second time I enlisted the help of the local congressman. Just call their office, and tell them that you are calling about to have someone from their office enquire on the current status of your I-485 case. That you have exhausted other efforts and made no headway.

Be polite and show appreciation that they are doing this service for you. They are not obligated to, but most will do some enquiry for you. My enquiry still has not been responded to, but it doesn't matter now. Whether the enquiry made the difference or the case was getting processed anyway, I cannot say. It doesn't hurt to check though. They may ask you to provide or fax a copy of your I-485 Receipt Notice too.

I didnt see anywhere on the 485 application that asks us to specify our email address. I am curious as to how do u get these emails from USCIS?
 
Do a google on case status online. USCIS runs this website where you can go register as a user(you have to specify your email also) and add your cases(485/140etc) and then you can turn on the option to receive email if anything changes on one of these cases.

I got my magic mail when I was away in Vacation along with all family members. I also got the approval notice sent mail on 07/29/07.

Thanks for all help provided by the forum members for their support.

Guys and Gals, I received my Green Cards in the mail today. Just when I had given up hope of ever getting it this year, after the INFOPASS Guy told me my name check was pending since Oct 2005, Khodalmd gave me a bit of hope by first and foremost telling me NOT to trust what I was told. Per his advise I contacted my senator and Voila 10 days later GC in the mail.THANK YOU Khodalmd and all the guys in the forum for your help. I hope and pray we will continue to get good news from the other member of this forum

Today i got the magic email that my 485 is approved.
My wife's also approved..
last week when i called the customer service and Immigration officer told me that no visas available and i need to wait until October according to my labour
and also she said no visa number was attached to my case even though i did my FP in June.. my wife did her FP last week and we got the magic emails...
