Refer to the monthly Dept of State Visa Bulletin for details on the various family and employment based immigration categories.

US citizens can sponsor spouse, parents and minor children <21 as immediate relatives (no quotas). They can also sponsor brothers/sisters or older married children for which there is a quota and waiting period of several years.

Apart from US citizens, green card holders too can sponsor spouse and children (they come under quota and there is waiting period of several years.)

I looked up the law, and discovered that NKM is accurate.

Newbie_12-09 , you may have a better luck under green card or visa section of this forum, this section deals with US Citizenship...Given you were not born in USA or your parent(s) are/were not US Citizens, you need to get US "Green Card" (US Lawful Permanent Resident status) first, before any citizenship consideration.

US Gov Immiigration website has good info about the overall process: http://www.uscis.gov/

Also, please be more patient and respectful to the forum/its members. Folks here are trying to help and share what they know.

I don't know which post you felt offended by, I'd advise y to move on if y do not like a certain post. I'm not in the business of lecturing others, and do not expect to be lectured, either. On a separate note, I 'responded' to a certain member because of how he came across - I don't know if you're (implicitly) suggesting that I'm on lower ground because I'm not based in the US unlike yrself...

#1. The question does not belong in this section. It belongs to the forum, but the forum is subdivided, and the original question does not belong here. While people may answer, not every one looks at all forums as they are trying to optimize their advice by looking only at section which they have some expertise in. It is very likely there are 10 times more people who are on this forum, but not looking at your question because their focus is somewhere else ... enough repetition.
#2. Well, lectures are dime a dozen. You can as well ignore comments you do not like.
#3. We would not know if you are on lower ground or not. I am about 3000 feet above sea level. Maybe I should add it to the signature.
#4. Most of the commenters on this forum, from what I see, were not natural born US citizens.

Dude, people have a perspective. And they are not paid lawyers. Your first question was "give me Y or N" ... come on, if someone is trying to tell you something, and you are not listening, even a paid lawyer will not be help.

I apologize to the administrators of this forum for the unusually harsh comments. To compensate, I advise the OP to look at these areas:

The route you will need to take is Visa ==> GC (with some exceptions you can skip Visa) ==> USC. So start with finding how you will get a visa.

Either of these countries are better than any of our countries and that is why we are here including you! so no need to single out a race or certain area! I am not from the Gulf but if you have ever worked in the Gulf as a techie or manager they are pretty good in terms of money and life style

Both your friends are right. Anybody willing to sponsor you, can do so; sponsoring paths and types being different. I believe fellow forum members have been explaining different paths as immigration process unfortunately is very complex. When a question is asked, forum members share experience they are familiar with, it's individual's responsibility to decipher and request for any clarification. We are all grown ups and have been through enough immigration process hoops to understand that immigration is a complex process (regardless of route taken). Being said that; There are appropriate threads on this website to help you navigate through the process. US Citizenship is not awarded straight away, you need to start your journey as being married to US citizen (to get green card and eventually become US citizen) or in some other non-immigrant category (information available on uscis dot gov), get green card and eventually become US citizen. There are no yes or no answers when it comes to immigration paths, any question related to immigration is loaded. I am sure you are aware of details part as a professional.

With Motorola, you are in business. Just find where Osama is, send that information to the CIA and once they toast him or arrest him, no greencard for you, only US citizenship. In addition, you will be a hero, appear in all major cable channels, be at the State of Union address and make a boat load of money from Osama's beard... Don't give up that soon...

I thought the OP made it clear - that he was considering moving to the US via Canada. Perhaps, you're the one that's not listening?

He may have posted his q in this sub-forum because his q pertained to US citizenship - the routes it could/could not be acquired...
