Green Card Works....

Oh, please. With all the due respect, I think you miss the point. All people in U.S. have to pay taxes. How about H1B, F-1 student in practical training..... They pay taxes and are currently being fingerprinted. Paying taxes has nothing to do with national security.

Speaking of permanet residency, I kinda of know that everyone who just gets it feels great. But the plain fact is that we have million of PRs. There is a reason to be proud, but I won't overplay it. I am sure most of the homeless people are U.S. citizens, I don't think they are proud of being that.

Plzzz...... there is a difference when you become a PR as opposed to when you are an F1 student.... or I should say "there ought to be a difference"..

With all due respect ernorman, why were you so eager to become a PR and filed a lawsuit against government. In that respect ASylee has all the rights that a PR has???? than why even become a permanent resident?

So if tommorow USCIS requries that all LPR's be strip searched upon entry..it will be ok? What would be the big deal then? If you haven't done anything wrong, then you wouldn't mind being strip searched right?

It would've been valid if Canadians(visiting for holidays) were also included. So USCIS is saying CAnadians who they have no clue about can enter and exit with no problems..whereas LPR's who USCIS has cleared themselves have to be checked all the time?

WEll said!

Lazerthegreat,

With all due respect, I believe you have been waiting so long that you must accumulate hostility towards this process. Everyone has a perspective, but for me, you fight when your rights have been violated. I fighted because they should have processed my GC based on national interest. I won't fight for the procedure which furthers U.S. national interest. Plus, I will work for U.S. government in D.C., so.... :D

hostility towards what process??? I think you are missing the point.. In my view, your rights are being violated in the name of national security. US govt. should NOT grant permanent residency in the first place if they are not comfortable enought with someone to let him/her live in this country. And what national interest you are talking about with this procedure... they are allowing canadian citizens to come shopping in the US without checking them. Dont you think this furthers national interests or not?

How about letting US citizens go, why not stop them and FP and photograph them also. I assure you I won't have any problem then....Can't a US citizen be criminal or can harm national interest??? why only PRs?

You have certain rights when you become a PR (thats why they also give you a welcome notice and a booklet) and you are not like an F1 or H1 person. And when you become a US citizen, your status is upgraded once again. If not why have an urge to become a US citizen? stay PR all your life and you should be ok... U
Going back to your point, US govt doesn't have any national interest in allowing asylees to become PRs...they do it only on humanitarian basis otherwise they can just throw them out after a period of time.

Ha, why you are so sure that there is a difference between PR and H1 or F1, and you can't admit that there is a difference between PR and U.S. citizen?

So, you argue that you have certain rights that H1B don't have, why can't USC has the same arguement? To the government, you are still foreign nationals.

I just don't get it.

I think we are too far off in our thinking my friend..... so you are trying to prove that there is no difference, from "rights in this country" stand point, between a visa hold and a permanent resident... This is almost funny.

anyway... those people who are against this decision, please post negative comments for decision makers instead of firing back on each other on this forum.

Please just relax. This is just like a bank reviews its customer's creditworthiness to determine whether he continues to qualify for such a line. The bank may also block the credit card and ask the cash register to ask you to show id. When attempting to use some card that I haven't used for a while, I got stopped in the store and had to talk to the bank to verify personal information. I never had any problem with it, as I know they are protecting MY OWN IDENTITY. How about someone forged your GC and entered U.S. millions of times, and some day you are in big shit with law enforcement.

Puhlease this anaolgy is crazy. How about this analogy then? Before getting in your CAR, your driver license should be checked to make sure you are the person who is driving. Why not set up check points at every exit of a community so that its the drivers who are in the cars with the right license?

With your analogy, you want that every time you try to use your credit card, the shop(walmart etc) would call the credit card company and say Ok let him verify his information before we charge his credit card??

Thats all B.S!

Currently, If you enter United States and lets say the officer does'nt think its you, there is no chance in hell he will let you go. When I was an asylee, I saw many PR's being fingerprinted in the secondary room to make sure it was them.

This rule should be only on as-needed basis. For instance, if the officer has some questions, he should ask for your fingerprints to validate your identity...Not everytime though. Only when he has any doubts. Thats wht they plan to do when you enter through Canada or Mexico...on as-needed basis. So again USCIS is saying if you come through land, we wont check you but through air, we will check you everytime...Thats all B.S!!

Are you suggesting that banks choose only some customers to check their creditworthiness and run early fraud alert? All info for all customers are in their database, and this process is computer-based. All in all, we have equal opportunity and fair consumer credit act.

If this is "as-needed" basis, as you suggest, expect hundreds of lawsuits nationwide -- some people are already claiming that they are being prejudiced in the name check process.

It looks that I won't get fingerprinted anyway as I only show them the RTD. :D

Banks check credit once before issuing a credit card, do you see them checking your credit EVERY TIME YOU CHARGE??? Thats the analogy with USCIS checking FP's everytime you enter...Would you want the credit card companies to check your credit card everytime you go to store to buy a gallon of milk with your CC?? I dont think so.

I hope you are not as naive by saying that you won't be FP'd if you only showed them your RTD. This is for every alien who is not a U.S Citizen. RTD holders(asylees or refugees or PR's) included...

Banks do an "inquiry" before issuing credit card. After that, they do "account reviews" in a set interval. American Express, the compay I worked for, does account reivew every two months. Which means that if you charge up all your credit cards at the same time, they will suspend your account. They get 1-2% of every transaction, but the risk they take is the entire credit line.

Better think twice if you think your credit card expires in year 2008 and you can do whatever you want.

By the way, I don't see anything changed after I got GC. That's why I didn't feel any excitement at the first place. Well, if the GC can turn out to be a prepaid debit card with one million bucks in it, I will take care of it with delight. :D

YOu are comparing apples with oranges my friend.... there is a hell of a difference between how credit card companies handle their business as opposed to handling immigration matters
