Green Card Interview - Help

Just got a notice from INS for GC interview at the end of month – we have been on I-485 and EAD for 2 years.

I am applying for my GC as a head chef in a restaurant, but I am not working currently, as I have to look after my baby. I am planning to start working soon, but the restaurant is not doing well after 911, in fact it is in red on its book.

I also have a pending case (Jan 2000) via family reunion (my mother got her citizenship 3 years ago), but for that kind of cases, it is only up to July 97.

Does any one have similar experience? I am very nervous as I have not been working, and the restaurant is not going good.

What do we need to prepare, e.g. questions, documents etc?

Would the restaurant financial condition jeopardize the case? Can the owner provide other information instead, such as bank account balance, stocks, property ownership, etc.

Worst case, if we are denied, we option do we have?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for Ginnu and POJ's replies - it is very nice.

We have a lawyer hired from the begining - but not so great. I am just trying to get more help or ideas. The issue really is that the restaurant is not doing well, and I should have started working for them earlier.

I really want to know what kind of questions INS would ask, and what do I and the restaurant owner need to prepare?

Thanks again.

If I Were You

If I were you I would not mention the financial situation of your employer. Don't offer any information that is not specificly asked for.
