Green card processing and spouse

Hi guys, hope someone can answer to my question.
My company has started my GC processing this year. They have applied thru PERM for 3 months now, and I have not heard back anything from them so far. However, I expect it to be done in next couple of months.
Now, I am getting married in Novemver and my wife will not be able to come with me in December. Her education will not be complete in next 6 months or so.
Now, I just came to know that once the GC processing starts, my wife will not be able to join me here, till I get a permanent residency, so that is like a 6-7 year period.
So what should I do now? Should I ask my company to hold on to the application process? Please share your advice.
Also, what is the latest stage of GC where I can include my wife to the application? I read it soemwhere that it is I-485, but I do nto know how far that info is true.

If you get married before your I-485 is approved, your wife will be able to get her green card relatively quickly. If not, she can expect a long process ahead of her.

That means she don't have to physically present here untill I get to the stage of filing I-485, right?
I am expecteing her to be in US by sometime middle of net year. So, what will be best option for her in terms of VISA? Should I bring her in H4? She can easily come down here in J1. So in terms of easiness to deal with GC filing stages later, which will be more convenient- H4 or J1?

If you get married before your I-485 is approved, your wife need not even be here at the time of your I-485 approval! She can use your approved I-140 to apply for an immigrant visa at the US consulate in your country (look up the terms "follow to join" and "consular processing").

If your H-1B status continues to be valid, she is eligible for an H-4. This would be the preferred visa. A J-1 visa may include home-country residency requirements; I wouldn't advise it.
