Granted asylum but not EAD

Hi Everybody,
Applied for asylum last year. My application was granted ten days after the interview. However, the asylum office never sent an approval notice to me. Neither did they send an EAD card. I've visited the local USCIS Office twice. I've called the asylum office two times. My attorney has sent them three letters demanding to ask what's going on with my case. The asylum office has not bothered to write back or even call me. What on earth is going on? Their records show the asylum was granted. Why they're dragging their feet in issuing me with a work permit is something I really can't understand. What could be happening?

Have you applied for a work permit?

Anyway, you don't need a work permit to work. All you need is an unrestricted social security number and a Gov't issued ID like a State ID or Driver's license.

mesbahul is right, just be calm and apply for your cards with the A# only

or even call me.
I don't think USCIS will consider voice messages that you leave to them.

were you able to talk to them directly? what did they say?

ask your attorney to call the asylum office directly. he or she has the direct number to the office.

just a reminder to mwana that if you got recommended approval and not the final approval, they will not send you EAD card, you should apply yourself.

OK. I'm very excited. They've finally sent the approval notice. The EADs should be coming in the next ten days. My attorney called them and the issue has finally been sorted out.
