Graduate Student applying for asylum

Hi there,

I arrived to the states in Aug 07 to pursue a Masters degree in Computer Engineering, I am graduating on the 23rd of this May and I have filed for asylum about a month ago and just received a letter indicating the interview date and time. Now my question is this, I have applied for EAD card through my school ( which every F-1 visa holder can apply to get his one year of OPT(optional practical training) ) and based on the time of the interview let's say my asylum application is denied, will they decline my OPT request?

(in general) no they will not.
