All,
I got the interview notice for N-400. It mentioned "Initial Interview". Are there multiple citizenship interviews?

Also, it mentioned that original and copy of documents are needed. How can we obtain original copy of tax returns we gave to IRS?

One last question: It said that ALL passports issued by any govt need to be brought. I have lost my original passport from 1994 but I have all my RTD (refugee travel docs) issued by USCIS in the last seven years. Will that be sufficient? Or will the officer go back to the beginning and try to fault me? What should I do?

please advise

Hi WBH,
I saw this in your signature:
03/30/2009 - Yellow Letter Received

What is Yellow Letter? I never got one. I just got my FP done the end of April and now I got the interview notice to appear for an interview at USCIS SF on June 22. The interview notice is the standard USCIS letter but it's not Yellow definitely. So, what is Yellow Letter?

Initial interview means the main interview. Secondary interview is oath, and in some rare instances a second follow up interview to provide missing documents.

If you lost your original passport just let IO know. Foreign passport(s) are not required in order to naturalize.

ok, thanks. So what is Yellow Letter?

Yellow letter is a generic letter telling you what to bring to the interview.
Not everyone gets it and I don't think it is much of the use. The list of required documents (most commonly driver license and US born children's birth certificate) does not really reflect what are truely needed for the
interview. You can not reply on it to prepare what to bring but if you do get your yellow letter bring it to the interview
and if the IO ask for a doc you don't have and it is not on teh yellow letter, you can argue that it is not on the
yellow letter

I think the only use of a yellow letter is when you receive it before the interview letter, it tells you the interview letter is coming soon

just tell them that they lost your passport.

As for the tax returns, you should request what is called a tax transcript from the IRS. It is an official print out from IRS computer records of your tax returns.

Chances are the officer will not ask to see the tax documents unless you are applying under the three year rule.
