Hi guys,
After I changed my status from H-4 to F-1 in the U.S. I had always wanted to travel to my home country. I needed to get my F-1 visa in order to come back and to continue studying. My biggest concern was that my parents are here in the U.S. with me, and they've applied for GC. I asked about my chances of getting visa on many forums (including this one), and everyone told me to stay because nobody believed I could get visa given the circumstances. I decided to go anyways. I was planning to go to Mexico first since refusal rates are low there. However, my final decision was to go to Russia and do it in Moscow. So, I submitted a lot of documents and had my interview scheduled for July 22.
Questions asked by the visa officer and my answers:
What is the purpose of your visit?
Studying.
Are your parents still in the U.S.?
Yes, they are.
What does your dad do?
He works as a ... at ... Inc.
What is the name of your school?
University of California, Irvine.
Where is it located?
Orange County. 50 miles South from LA.
Why did you choose to study in the U.S.:
University I'm going to has a reputable business school with a lot of graduates who are getting very nice jobs even here in Moscow. And it's always been my dream to work in Moscow after I graduate.
How old are you?
21.
How long have you been living in the U.S.?
3 years, but I've been in & out.
Have a nice semester.
Thank you!
That was it. I got my visa for 1 year and I'm going back to Russia for New Year I'll have to renew it in Summer 2008 but I don't think it's gonna be a problem.
Now my question to you guys. Can I invite a friend of mine to spend a month or so with me? What do I have to do? Thanks in advance.
