I applied for asylum under my mom's case & we were denied first time because of a misunderstanding & some mistakes with the translation. I wasn't in the interview so I don't know what happened exactly. We both reapplied but in seperate cases. It's been 3 weeks and we haven't received any mail or reciept yet. Is there anything wrong? Should I be worried? We're out of status now and I'm afraid that something might be wrong. Also, how long will the whole process take? Until we get a reciept and an interview date? My sister was granted asylum a couple of months ago, and we pretty much have the same case and reasons. Does that improve my chances? Any tips or things I should know? Please help? :(

Denied first time? I know when you are denied the second step is Immigration Court. Never heard abou reapplying after being denied. Thats why i think people should hired a lawyer, you all could have applied all together.

I share the same sentiments with gandrud! If IO denies your case, the next stage is Immigration Court. I don't quite understand reapplying in a different class. You should all have applied together with your sister and your case would have been heard collectively and approved together.

I don't like being negative but if USCIS denied your case and you didn't file to see an immigration judge, DONT EXPECT ANYTHING GOOD FROM NOW ON! GET A LAWYER! BECAUSE IF YOU DONT HIRE A LAWYER AND IF YOU HAVENT HEARD FROM THEM AFTER BEING DENIED...YOU CAN GET A DEPORTATION ORDER ANYTIME SOON.

if you got denied asylum and you failed to appeal your case to the immigration court within 30 days you will get deportation immediately, i hate to say it but i think a deportation order is already intered against you
