Hi,

I have received my oath letter but it is on a Wednesday, in a couple of weeks.
I have also learned that people who had interview with me are going for oath tomorrow, a Tuesday.

Question is, can I go tomorrow with them? The only reason is I have a class on Wednesdays. I would like to avoid missing the class at any cost possible. I won't be needing my passport until Christmas so I am not in a hurry for that reason.

So, clearly said for the benefit of future reference:
Can a person with an oath letter in hand go for another oath ceremony in advance of the scheduled date?
I know people with scheduling conflicts do this regularly for fingerprints, etc.

well i'm sure you can reschedule but i'm just assuming and someone with that experience will probably let you know how you go about doing that.

however, you just can't "show up with an oath letter in hand" and expect to get naturalized.

they WILL turn you away as they are looking for the specific time and date on your letter

not only that, they won't have your naturalization certificate that you trade your GC for

Thanks for the fast response. The main urgency was whether I should go tomorrow or not, because I did not know how the process worked. Your response cleared it up. Thanks again.

You can easily get a later oath date, but it is rare for them to give you an earlier date than originally scheduled. And you can't just show up for the oath without notice.

We tried that when I had my oath and my spouse was still in line for it. Not working if you are not on the list because the don't have you naturalization certificate ready.
