General question - visa current date

Hi all. I'm not sure where to post this question... sorry if it doesn't entirely fit in this category. My question isn't technical in nature. I'm looking for just some general advice.

I mailed in my I-140 and I-485 concurrently on July 1 and am now expecting the I-485 to reject, but the I-140 to process. Unfortunately I've been becoming more and more unhappy/depressed about working for my current employer and living in the midwest. I have thought about moving out west again as I think that will make me much happier. And since I feel quite underpaid by my current employer, I'm quite confident that I will be able to get a sizeable raise on my next job, which would offset some of the lawyer fees I've already sunken in so far.

But my Labor Certification has already been approved. Would it be risky/stupid to change job and restart the entire process again? My date in line is only April 2007, and I'm in the category EB-3. If my date doesn't become current in the October bulletin, then I feel like it could be years until it does, and just the thought of that is making me incredibly depressed.

Has anyone had this dilemma before? Has anyone had to cope with this agonizing wait while feeling dissatisfied at their current employer? I really need some direction. I have 2.5 years left on my H1-B - I feel like I leave now or never.

Thanks all.

If your county of birth is India, China it seems EB3 with PD of 2004 or 2005 or 2006 may not be current in October (my Guess may be wrong)
You have the option to find new employer with H1 transfer and then let new employer file LC through PERM (to file LC it may take about 60-90 days) then it may take 60-80 days for approval and your PD will be 2007 if LC filed in 2007.
USCIS has stopped premium process for I-140 ( you could have upgraded with Premium process), if your I-140 gets approved and you get copy of I-140 filing receipt or I-140 approval copy and then join new employer on H1 and he files new LC and LC gets approved then you CAN get early PD of First I-140 approval and at the time of filing second I-140 inform the lawyer to recapture early PD as I-140 was approved for you in the past and give him copy of past I-140 approval.

Nobody at this time knows how the PD is going to move in the future .
Relax!! Take time and then make the decision.
Good Luck!!

That is very helpful advice - thank you!! It's definitely nice to know about potential recapturing of PD.

I'm born in the rest of the world (not China/India) but EB-3. What would your guess be? Do you think there's a potential my 2007 PD will become current in October?

I understand it's very unpredictable and I won't hold you against it. Just really would like to know how others predict the unpredictable.

Thanks again!
