Hey everyone,
Hope you all had or are having an awesome day! Based on the data that all the users have provided here about their case approvals and all the case studies, can someone please tell me what is the expected waiting time to obtain your GC from the day you file your I-485 based on an eligible asylum category?
I know it depends on each case, but I just want to know what is the EXPECTED number for a 26 year old guy!
I have noticed a considerable decrease in the waiting time to obtain GC through asylum from 10 years to even 4-6 months! How come some people who have filed their I-485 through asylum more recently are getting faster approvals than the ones who filed years ago? Any tips on what documents to include in the initial filing that could expedite the process or throughout the process in general? Would having a really good and experienced immigration attorney who know their way around this help? Oh and what happened to that bill about cutting down 1 year from the citizenship waiting time providing English proficiency (I am not talking about 1 year backdated GC through asylum)?
Also which service center has jurisdiction over applicants who reside in California and got their asylum approval from an asylum office in California? CA is my legal state of residence and I got my asylum approval from an asylum office in California.
One more things, I am still in my 1 year min waiting period before I can apply for GC. I will be eligible to file for I-485 based on asylum next summer. Can I participate in DV Lottery 2010 this October? Is there anything that I have to keep in mind while I am filling out the DV application? Any particular questions I need to answer such as: "do you have any immigration petition filed on your behalf" or my status?
Thanks a lot for all you help guys.
You all have a swell time!
