GC renewal timeline and applying while outside US

Hi,

My parents GC expires in July and they are currently in India. Due to health reasons, they cannot stay more than 4 weeks in US.

  1. 1. Can we e-file I-90 for them while they are in India? (They will come in June and stay for 4 weeks)
  2. 2. As all the I-90s go to California Service Center now, what is their timeline to process this (at least for the biometrics after applying)?

I would appreciate any input on this.

Their ten year GCs are expiring? If genuine health reasons are stopping their return they should ideally apply for re-entry permits to ensure they do not lose their PR status.

yes, their 10year GC is expiring. As they are out of US now, I don't think they can apply for re-entry either.
Any other options?

But they can apply for the reentry permit when they are in the US in June. With a valid reentry permit in their possession, the expiration of the GC would not prevent them from reentering the US (but they could be refused entry for other reasons).
