GC not yet received after approval

How long does it takes to get plastic after approval. Well per approval notice i should have received card within 3 weeks. But, it's been more than a month. Called INS and the officer seems to have no explaination for the delay. Anyone else have had the same experience?
P.S I am not seeing many people receiving plastic lately; only the approval notices.

I am in the same boat with you. I am Approved on 9/7.

I waited three months to get the card after approval...my wife four days including weekend.
I think if you did the bio the old way "green form" like I did you wait more.

I think you should call INS to ask the approval notice. In case your green baby gets lost, the notice can serve the same way as the green one until you get a new one. My 2 cents.

By the way, the approval notice looks sweet too. ;) ;)

Thank you sadasylee. This is the way uscis works. The e-mail said the approval notice has been mailed out.But I received a card instead of the letter.I will try to call them to find out and also be very carefull for not loosing this card untill I finish dealing with uscis( 3 more years to go).I got a card in my wallet, five copies at home and 4 more copies somewhere overseas in two different countries, just in case.

You are crazy man :D . Why made so many hard copies?
Scan it and email the jpg file to all your close relatives and friends. ;)

My man sadasylee, that was much better for me to open a banking account to protect my card until I give up my alien number. But this option couldn't work here in New York city since all banks around the city rejected my request. They need money for business. That's why,I made so many copies to secure my way to citizenship.

Another good way to do is to Scan a colored copy of your GC and make a jpg file and email that jpg file to yourself.... :)

Chill. Having a GC or even an approval is better than being an Asylee. My aunt lost her GC while on a trip to India and lo and behold the U.S Embassy put a visa on her passport the next day...All she had to do was to give her A# and show her drivers license(which she also lost) so her husband faxed her other I.D picture...

Once you are approved, you are money..and don't need to make million copies to show anything...Your A# and LIN# along with valid photo ID is a good proof.

Good idea, Lazerthegreat.I think this is the best. You've been read for a while.Where you've been man?I keep my eyes open on your signature, same thing on wantmygcnow, to see if there any change. But I can't understand how come uscis can work on the opposite way.I 'm sharing your tough experience now and ask you and wantmygcnow to be positive and you will be fine.I mean, officers handling your cases will definitely give up one day and let you free.

One more thing i must mention. Like it says on the approval notice every resident alien is supposed to carry proof of residency i.e, GC with them. It's a law. I don't know how seriously it is implemented.
However, i do remember a case few years ago when bunch of scientists in NASA were handcuffed by INS , because they didn't have proof of status handy. Just a thought wanted to bring up in the forum. What do you guys think about carrying GC with you all the time ?

One more proof of mysterious INS. Nobody there knows what's going on, not even the immigration officers. I happen to be one of the unfortunate people who have not recieved plastic even after 45 days of approval.
I called INS and was immediately transferred to an officer. The officer told me that there is no way we can issue card in 3 weeks as it says on the welcome notice. Per him they are still issueing cards for feb 05 approved cases.
I laughed to my self at this remark. Somebody tell them many have received card even before the approval notice. I don't know who is the boss there.

Man it's not easy when dealing with uscis.I was approved on Sep 20,2005 and received my card on Sep 20,2005.But the thing is I've never received my approval notice.keep calling till you get a nice guy you're gonna help you.

Don't worry, man. I go with you. my approval is 9/7. I called USCIS everyweek into NSC. But I never an identical answer. Someone let me call in in two weeks. Someone asked me to call in after two months. Even someone just let wait for ever. As you may be experinced, every time called into NSC at least reqiring two to three hours. It is very aweful.
