AP is just for people with PENDING application.
What you can do is through INFOPASS go to your DO and try to get your passport stamp.
Good luck,

Were you ever out of status? That's the key question.
justfiled said:I thought there was also a special 'emergency travel permit' for those who have been approved, but have not received their actual card or a stamp yet. Is that incorrect info?
jdawg9 said:Aude,
Check first if anyone was able to get passport stamp via infopass without approval notice. This would avoid further frustration on your part.
Another thing to consider. I'm sure you will eventually get approved and you might think that i'm butting in where my opnion doesn't belong but if you are doing all this all for the travel maybe you should reconsider because there are tons of people on the same boat as you and i'm sure the USCIS put some safeguards to avoid givem them stamps. Weight things out and see if the effort and aggravation is worth or the wait is better.
I know we all want to travel for pleasure and see loved ones and relatives (I, myself haven't left the country in 11 yearsand haven't seen my father or brother in the same amount. I'm dying to go back home to visit them all but sometimes I think with all this beuracracy is not worth it. If I waited 11 years maybe I can wait another month.
With all that said I still wish you all the luck and hope you get it sooner than later.
justfiled said:Hmm.... I wonder if the person who told me that was referring to the stamp or not. So much misinformation going around and I have a suspicious feeling that I'm the brunt of it LOL.
Aude, i think if you have always been in status, and everything is fairly straightforward, then wait for a while and if no answer, get the AP.
However, my lawyer told me, that if you are out of the country on AP, and your case gets approved during the time you were out, then it could be messy. Is that true? He didn't say that you couldn't come in, but you'd have to go to the embassy/ consulate, and do stuff there first, before coming back.
Of course, if you are denied while you are out of the country, that's that.
We all hope not to be deniedAude said:Well I really hope I don't get denied, that would really suck!!
I have another issue now. I can't find my notice with the receipt number! I think the officer that interviewed us kept it by mistake. I called the USCIS this morning and they don't have access to our personal file (what good are they for!?!), now I have to write a letter to the NYC DO and request my receipt number. God knows how long that's going to take... It's so tiring![]()
jdawg9 said:We all hope not to be deniedbut I always go by preparing for every possible scenario so since that's a possibily (knocking on wood).
Did you ever create a online portfolio with the USCIS to have your cases tracked and notified by email? If so, your case numbers would be on your online account.
Also, if you paid by check. I would try to go to your online banking site and pull the check image. The returned checks would have the receipt numbers behind them on the endorsment part in the back of the check.
Did you file yourself or used a lawyer? I know my lawyer has all the backup paperwork if I ever need it.
Let us know if you were able to get it.

I had my interview on the Jan 31st, 2006. Before interview started, the officer asked me if I could go to have finger prints the next day at 11:00 am. I answered yes. So he gave me a invitation letter for finger prints.
Then the interview went on for about 5 minutes. He then said "approved", and took my I-94, stamped my passport that says "pending". He explain to us, He should receive reports from FBI about my background in 3 weeks or so, then I will receive receive something in the mail. I will have to go back to the immigration to get my passport stamped.
So far I have not received anything yet, and I have not called to find out.
I am actually confused. One we get a GC - If they stamp the passport - What will this stamp indicate?. can anyone explain to me?
Thanks,

I have my receipt number for my FP appointment notice for AOS, is it possible that it is the same number for the interview notice since it is also for AOS?
justfiled said:Most people apply for EAD during the same time and have to get FP and Biometrics done- I guess one will have the receipt # for EAD and one for the receipt # of the i-485. If you didn't apply for EAD, then yeah, the # on your notice is probably for your AOS. If you did both, then just go to the USCIS online case status page (I don't have the link on me unfortunately, but I'm sure someone else here does) and do a search for both receipt #s, and it will tell you which one is for which.
Otherwise, if you have only one #, then obviously you have no problem. Open an a/c on the USCIS case status page and keep your info stored there. That way, if there are any updates on your case, you will be notified by email.
Of course, I have convinced myself that their email notification doesn't work, so I just log in myself and check my status about twice a day![]()
My last LUD was sometime in July (after FP results).
No I did. I got 2 different notices for FP, one for EAD and one for AOS, so if the AOS receipt number on the FP notice is the same as the AOS interview notice, then I have it but it hasn't been updated since 8/31/05 when they got my FP results.. Is that normal?jdawg9 said:LUD=Last Update Date, which is the last day the status of your case changed for the particular receipt number.
I don't think you understood justfiled or he wasn't clear, but your EAD and AOS receipt numbers will be different.
