Sorry guys this might not be the right place to ask. But I love this forum. I have spend enough time here. Can someone help me with Canada Visitor's visa.

Me and my wife have US Green card. Our daughter is a citizen. Can you tell me if we need a visa to visit canada for 4 days? Here are my questions.

1. Do we need visa?
2. If no visa is required. what documents should we carry. I have plastic card, My wife has only green card stamping on passport and daughter has a valid US Passport.

We are Indian citizens.

Also, anothe question. My friend is on H1B. can he get visa on the way to canada? How long does it take to get that? We are driving to Toronto via Buffalo.

Thanks so much in advance.

Persons having Green Card / Stamped Indian Passport / US Passport do not need any VISA to go to Canada !!

Should keep Passport with your Green card at the time of Canada Visit !!

Please ask you wife to carry DL. If there is no plastic card, they ask for DL. (Actually they asked DL for a person who had the plastic card)

Your friend will have to apply for a Canadian Visa well in advance. Search on the web for the Canadian Consulate in the US.

I don't think they will issue a visa at the border.

Does your friend have an H1B visa stamped on the passport?

Last weekend we went to Niagara Falls Canadian side, the officer only checked my green card and my boy friend's passport with I-551 stamp, nothing else. I suppose that's all you need.

I also visited Canada three years ago when I was still in H-1B. I got the visa from Buffalo Canadian Consulate in the same day, it was quite smooth. I don't know the new rules in these years though.

GC & Passport is all whats needed. Sometimes, they don't even ask for passport if plastic is shown. I've crossed twice last year. I-551 on passport is ok too.

To obtain a Canadian visa, one must apply thru the Canadian Consulate. Visa is NOT issued @ border.
