GC holder (asylum) returned to COP

Hi,

1. I am eligible for citizenship as of June 2013, GC holder since Sept 2009
2. While on asylum status my father passed away in COP. Was not able to attend funeral because of status and other risks. (This was the most devastating thing I experienced in the last 20 years)
3. After receiving green card, traveled to COP for 9 days to visit father's grave in 2010.
4. COP Passport was taken from me by authorities upon arrival due to non validity.
5. Consequently had new passport issued in catastrofic circumstances to return.
6. Returned to US with COP passport.
7. Was my only trip to COP in 21 years (since jan 1992).

I had to do what I had to do and only blame myself.
Do you see this as being a problem when applying for citizenship?

They might ask you about it, and they might not. Have documented proof of why you went (death certificate), and write a letter explaining why you went, why you didn't expect to be harassed by the authorities there (or why you were prepared to deal with it), have it notarised and take it with you. If they don't ask you about it, though, don't volunteer the information.
