Folks,

I got my GC in Feb 2005. I was wondering when i can apply for my citizenship?. Do i need to wait till i complete 5 years or can i apply 6 months before my 5 year completion?.

Some posts do say that i can submit paperwork a few months before completing 5 years. Is this the case?.

I appreciate your input..

Thx,

Ash

If you are applying based on a 5 year mark, then you can apply 3 months prior to the 5 year anniversary. So at 4 years and 9 months you can apply.

Stay outside US..

I got my GC aug 2004 and my 4 year 9 months time line just crossed today. I am not able to find any doc in the USCIS site regarding the fact that I can file 90 days before I complete the 5 years. (based on a cursory search - but the application form instructions didnt say this).

Can you please send me some pointers in this regard?

Thanks,

Well, it is on the VERY first page of Instructions for N400

Look under "When Should I use Form N-400?" . Second Paragraph.
