Gap between jobs during transfer

My current H1B expires on October next year. I want to transfer to a new company and this new company already applied a new H1B for me. My new
H1B starts on Oct. 5, 2007. Right now I am still working for my current company. I want to leave my current company now and take several weeks vacation. Then I will start to work for my new company in Nov. Is this several weeks vacation OK that I do not belong to both of my current company and new company? Thank you very much. My new H1B approval has the I-94 at the lower right corner valid from Oct. 5 2007 to 2010.
 
You can take vacation from Comp A. Until you join comp B and get your first pay check you are considered to be Comp A employee for H1 purpose.
