Funding

Hey guys, I have a few questions regarding proof of funds during the interview, we are expecting our interview for October but as of yet we have not received our 2nd NL.

During the interview we should be able to show funds of around $7000 for 2 of us, but by the time we are going we hope to have around double this. Does anyone know if this is sufficient? and whether we would need to bring a bank statement etc.

If this is not enough, what other means of support could I show? My sister lives in America and we will be staying with her until we get on our feet. Her partner also runs a business and would be happy to employ me.

thanks in advance.

Hi irishregers and you all!

I am confused about the bank statement thing too. I have not read anywhere that it is required to show a bank statment with a minimunt amount of money, but I can see in the forums that lots of people talk of them. Are them really necessary? If yes, it has to be some kind of official bank statement?

Thank you guys!

You can ask your sister or her partner to fill out an I-134 form for you. Admittedly, not all consulates insist on seeing an affidavit of support, but at the same time, no CO will turn down or treat it as insufficient should he/she have doubts about you becoming a public charge. They're happier when you're able to show you have some sort of support system in place. Also, since your sister's partner could possibly employ you, it wouldn't be a bad idea to draw up an employment offer letter which you can also take along to your interview.

At the end of the day, the CO may just be satisfied with your personal financial standing and not even need to see any of those other documents. But it is safer to be over prepared/over documented for the interview.

Agreed with all that Sm1smom said. In reality the amounts you mention are a little low, but in combination with a support network/134/job offer it will look much stronger. They are happy to look at the combination of proofs and will look less carefully if there are a number of positive factors beng combined...

Also, they're not going to just take your word that you should have about double available between the interview and before you go, unless you can prove why this will be the case.

He'll be perfectly fine with the 14K for 2 people without anything else. But to make it perfect I would get a job offer from his sisters husband.

bank statement is just a rumour.dv is a lottery game, here people are selected randomly and it doesnot matter how much property the particular persons have.the main things is that person should be able to give their address in USA to receive their green card and in advanced if they could show anybody in USA for earlier days expenses,it would be better.

This is rubbish. The CO has to be satisfied you won't be a public charge. We were asked for proof of financial standing at our interview.

Absolute rubbish indeed for someone who has not gone through the process to come out and proclaim what people who are more enlightened about rhe DV are saying with regards to the financial requirement is nothing but a rumor.

if so,in my understanding, they behave differently to the people of different countries.if a person is able to show his/her supportive person in USA,then it is alright in Nepal.this is the reality,Mr.SusieQQQ.dear frenz keep in mind this is very simple issue in the country like Nepal.but i donot know what actually they expect in other countries.thanks!!!

And the reality, mr oskarson, is that (1) some people can stand on their own two feet and (2) this forum is read by many more people than in Nepal, but you present your statement as though is it is fact for everyone. Even the same CO at the same embassy can ask two different people for different things. Good luck with your interview, whenever it is.

i respect you SusieQQQ.i have been benefitted a lot by your valuable and fact based posts.actually i donot know much about this process so i need a lot of suggestions from your side throught this process.i am sorry as i generalised the case worldwide.what i had posted is that i saw in most of the nepalese visa winners in past years, thats all.

Hey and many thanks for the replys, we will save as much between now and then and get the job offer and affidavit of support.
Just one more question, when completed, does the affidavit need to be sent to the KCC or do I just bring it along to the interview?
