when i initially filed my i485 and ead application, my lawyer said i told me i couldn\'t file advance parole until i receive of the receipt because the ap application supposed to be filed to a local office. ins cashed my check yesterday so i am expecting to receive my receipt soon.

after reading similar cases, i found i actually could have filed the ap together with my i485. anyway, i really want to travel out of the country and don\'t know what should i do for the next step as the fastest way to get an ap. should i walk in to a local ins office with a letter? if so, what would be a valid reason? or, should i file ap application to a local ins office as what my lawyer told me? how long this would take?

many thanks for your help!

Unless it is an emergency you cannot go to the local INS office without first applying with the service center.
You can go to the INS office with a valid letter (like parents sick or marriage of some close relation) and attempt at the local INS.
If you have applied with the service center and 90 days have passed after RD (of AP) you can go to local INS and demand AP

walk-in AP after 90 days

So, do you mean that after 90 days, you need not have a valid reason to ask for an AP from local INS office (I am in San Jose)?? Please let me know, because I am way past 90 days (RD: 08/06/01) and haven\'t got my AP yet.
please help !!!!
