From the F1 to the J1, how?

Hello,

I am a marine biologist graduated in New Jersey and I am holding a F1 Visa. I am actually working with my OPT in an american company. My OPT expires next February and I would like to apply for a H1B Visa, but they do not supply more for this year. I have to wait until next April to apply, which will be valid from october. It means i will have a time gap of 6 months.

I heard I could apply for a J-1 Visa to cover my time gap and keep working (also my boss agrees in sponsor me but he does not know how to do it), is it possible? is it easy to obtain? I need a sponsorship? I have to wait a lot of time or I can get it after my OPT expires? Another question is :is it easy for me to change my J-1 to H1B?

Thank you very much

Could anyone help me? please

I am an aquarist from Barcelona (Spain) working in Greenwich (CT)and I would like to know if I can pass from my OPT (F-1 Visa) to a J-1 Visa to be able to keep working
Being an aquarist can I be sponsored by my boss?

Thank you very much,

if your company can issue you a DS-2019 form, you can try to change your status to J-1. However, I'd be very careful if I were you, since you may become a subject to home residency requirement, which will prevent you from getting H1 visa/status. Read up on that.

Thank you very much Lucy :)
By the way, do you know where I could find the information about this? I mean, to be sure that I do not have to come back home as a requeriment.

An another question please :p do you know if it exists another way to keep working legally in United States after the F1 (OPT)expires? I want to apply the H1B visa but the problem is the gap of time...do you think I could apply for another kind of Visa? (I could apply for a new F1 Visa but I do not have enough money for a master! )

Thank you very much :)
