Friend applying for tourist visa

Hello there!

It is my first time in these forums... I am getting married in December of this year here in USA. I wanted for my friend to come who is in the Philippines. She does not have a steady job and is a nurse taking care of her bedridden grandma. She has travelled to some countries in Asia. Her main purpose for visit to US is to attend my wedding for which she will be a bridesmaid. I will be sending her an invitation to support her application. What else can I send her to help her out with the application? What are the chances of her getting approved? And how long does it take from application to the actual interview?

Thank you!

You have supplied her with a reason to visit the U.S. If she will be staying with you (thereby she will not have the expense of a hotel) mention that in your letter inviting her to be a bridesmaid.

SHE must qualify on her own account based on her qualifications that have nothing to do with you. SHE has a life outside your wedding.

The Consulate will want her to establish that she has a home that she will return to. SHE has to demonstrate her ties to family, job, property in her home country. On the flip side, if she has greater equity ties in the U.S., those things would work against her.
