Fraud prevention//pre-screening letter from embassy dv2014????

I am selected for the 2014 dv lottery.
My interview is in november.
A few days ago I received a letter from the embassy where my interview will be held that basically is a
pre-screeningletter?
They are asking me to send in some but not all original docs and statememts on my marriage(how we met etc) .
We are using a lawyer who told us that was very strange but to comply with their request...
All my documents are 100% real and I got married 12 years ago w/3 kids....(so no idea where the fraud idea come from?)
I am trying to figure out why I got this letter or what to expect at the interview??
They said that I do not need to bring the docs again to the interview as they will have them ready...
I have searched butnot found a single piece of info online...
Please help...
Any clues guys???

As your lawyer told you, just comply with them. They may have their own reasons of requesting those docs, wish you all the best.

What is stranger than the letter from the embassy is why you are using a lawyer???

Regarding the letter from the embassy, send whatever they ask for, if you have nothing to hide there should be no problem. It might be something that embassy does because of high numbers of fraud at that office.

part 2 of Fraud prevention//pre-screening letter from embassy dv2014????

Thank you for your imputs guys.
As for the lawyer...well I guess i could have done it myself...But this once in a lifetime chance...didn't want to risk simple mistakes...
So yes I will of course do as they request...
I am just racking my brains on why?
They even asked me for a statement on how I met my wife and our ongoing relationship....
The weird pard is that We are in Japan...which as far as I know is a bit stricter than other places in regards to criteria...My wife is Japanese,I am German but a permanent resident since 5 years here in Japan...
I have all what they asked for except my previous passports which I lost.
My current one was issued in 2006(7 years ago and is still valid plenty...)
They said to write a statement explaining if previous passports are not available...
Anyhow thank you for your time....
It's llike when there is a probable reason....it's fine even if it is inconvenient...
But in my case I do not know why....It just bothers me I guess.
Thank you again guys!!!

Did you enter under Japan for chargeability?

And you are 100% certain that this letter is from the embassy and that the address they want you to send the docs to is in fact the embassy address?

Hi again,

I entered japan as a tourist and then we eventually got married.
I then had a spouse visa for 5 years.
But again that was 13 years ago and I am now a permanent resident here so in my
humble opinion that would not be an issue...right?

And yes the letter seems to be from the Tokyo Embassy as it came registered...

Thank you for your imputs I really appreciate it.
My interview is in three weeks...
Super nervous now....
The million dollar question...Why me as I don't believe in random anything...and what flag it?
Honestly can't think of anything...

In my question earlier I meant how did you enter the lottery - you have to provide a country of chargeability. Your wife would normally have entered Japan, and you Germany, but you might have put both under one country - perhaps you under Japan or her under Germany? In that case you are making a connection to your spouse that needs to be proven for a couple of reasons - and THAT is all I can think of that could have flagged your application.

Hi thanks for your imput.

As far as mistakes...
well we hired an immigration attorney and I am thinking/hoping there are no mistakes.
Thanks you.

Britsimon asked an important question about twice or thrice and you haven't answered. This could help shed more light on your situation. Which is your chargeability country???

My instincts, tells me there could be a possibility that someone use your lost passport to get visa from the embassy (could be either IV or NIV but high chance NIV) and so when they check their records they see some questionable issues that could be indicators of fraud and/or criminal activity. You do not have to worry if you are genuine.

I find the questions strange and if that were me, I think I would just call the embassy to check that the letter is genuine. Just sayin.

Make no sense at all. The only thing I can imagine is that they mixed some dates and this way your actual marriage date shows up as from the very near past.

Yes that is just as likely as anything else. Either way, nothing to hide = nothing to fear.
