successful F1 stamping
Wanted to share my experience of getting my F1 visa stamping in India after I had changed my status from H4 to F1 within the US.
I carried with me all the required documents and the officer checked everything, including my GRE and TOEFL scores, financial support documents (bank balance, property documents etc).
One thing I felt helped my cause was that I had already done one semester at the university and I had taken an unofficial transcript showing that I had maintained full-time status and was also registered full-time for Spring 2006. I also took a letter from the Dean stating that I had been studying there etc, lending an air of authenticity.
Best of Luck to all those in a similar situation. Just make sure you take all the proper documents with you, as they can ask for anything...including when you will graduate etc. Btw, my visa is valid till Dec 2010..although the I-20 is valid till Mar 2008.
