On N-400 I forgot to mention one of my names I used 9 years ago.
It is basically a different spelling of my current name.

Do you think it is ok just to mention it on my interview?

Thanks

Thanks, SK,

I just thought that due to the name check delays I
needed to disclose my names before the interview.

Different transliteration of some vernacular name by no means creates a different name. There are as many possible transliterations of the same name as there are different languages.

I'm guessing that if you said "yes my name is Bob Smith, but 5 years ago I used Paul Jones for 6 months" then they might send you back into the name check hell-hole.

But if you said "my name is Bob Smith, but 5 years ago I used Bob Smyth for 6 months becase I wasn't able to properly transliterate the name" it shouldn't be a problem. As I understand it, the FBI checks your name, common misspellings of your name and common different transliterations of foreign names.

But, I'm guessing
