forgot to include mum's middle name in DS230

These instructions are deceptively simple. The DOS, wary of fraud, demands strict compliance. A minor typographical error appears to raise a presumption of fraud because the DOS has concluded that most errors, particularly in the spelling of the name, indicate that duplicate petitions may have been filed. Any differences in the spelling of a name on the petition when compared to the birth certificate will disqualify the applicant.

thanks raevsky....i won...not her...it just asks you for your parents name in ds230 part 1....thats all...i was wondering if it could be an issue

it won't be an issue as long as you can proof what the real name is...and it can be very important if you in a couple of years want to sponsor them for their own GC after you become a citizen...if your papers didn't mention clearly their right name, it can become an issue at that point...(info about that comes from a very wll known lawyer who gave my friend this advise....check if the parents names are correct on the birth certificate, otherwise it might become an issue later on....maybe some countries have different kind of birth certificates)

Once you update the form AT THE INTERVIEW, there is no longer any matter for the consul whether the form was not ogininally what it became in the end.
However, it might delay the output - additional checks may be fulfilled
