Foreign Experience Confirmation. Please Help!

I am still at the LC stage. I’d appreciate your input on the experience letter for I-140 filing.

I had a B.S. degree and almost 5 years LC related work experience in my home country. Then I earned an M.S. degree in the same field in the US and started working for my current employer that filed the LC. The job description requires a B.S. degree in my academic field and min. of 4-year related experience. So I need my former employer’s reference letter for EB3 filing. I got a letter from the HR manager of the company dated Aug. 2001 (Who knew the LC could take forever?). The letter is written in English on the company’s letterhead. My concern is the letterhead, which has only the company’s name and address, etc. in my native language with no English subtitle or translation. In the letter, address in English for future communication was provided.

1. Is this going to be a problem? If so, how should I proceed?
2. Does the INS really check out the references? The reason of concern is because my former employer is going out of business any time now and the person who wrote the letter for me is starting a new job soon.
3. So based on the above, should I ask him for a new letter in his new employer’s letterhead, or keep the old one?
4. Should the letter be notarized?

In general, how should one proceed with foreign experience confirmation? Please share your suggestion or experience in this matter. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm interesting, experience letter in native language! What country are you from (just curious, dont get offended). Moreover please do not cross post next time.

1. Get somebody to translate the letter. Somebody (preferably not a relative) can translate the letter and certify the translation. See INS web site about guidelines on translation (FAQ)

2. If you go for CP, it is possible that the experience will be checked out. But you need an experience letter in english.

3. If you get one in english, that will be perfect.

Jaxen...

You are the first to reply my posts. Thanks for that. Nobody responded at theI-140 forum. So I thought people here might have gone through this and I could get some responses.

In corresponding to your points:

1. The letter is in English. The letterhead itself is not.

2. I am not thinking about CP right now. What about INS?

Thanks.
