Hi,

Could someone tell me....

Do I require the GC or can I go ahead and apply for the SSN with just the I485 form..?

I'm confused

You need employment authorization, which the I-485 alone does not provide. Once you apply for and receive your EAD based on your pending I-485, then you can apply.

if they find out you gona apply for ssn, they will deny you your GC, and when you go for your interview, you need to show I-864, the reason the USCIS requires the I-864 is so you don't becom a borden to the U.S. Govermont.... so, forget about SSN..

I second that! (???) usm8274, go ahead and apply for SSN after you get your EAD.
