For New Jersey applicants how to get one day passport?

Guys if you live in NJ how to get US PP in one day? Also is it possible at New York city regional office, or some other office?
 
Thanks Bobsymth as usual. I just took a look at that link and it says that NYC office served NYC only. For Philadelphia office it shows that they serve NJ. Not sure if this is really that hard and fast and wondering if NJ residents will be seen and served at NYC office. Anyone tried it ?

My friend resides in NJ who got his PP in 2 hours from New York city about 2 months ago. So unless rules have changed I think you probably could get one

Are you in a hurry to get a passport? If not, you can still apply at the post office. Otherwise, you can still try to NY office.
 
Time Line

Just to give you a time line, my ID was Jan 12th and also applied for PP on 12th itself and received PP on todays's mail....

actually yes i am in a sort of hurry, my employer is planning to send me to UK for 3 months and project deadlines are tight. if i get passport on the day i apply that would be ideal and if not at least next day is great because i can fly that day itself

I applied for same-day passport+card today at NY agency. They have stopped giving same-day and the only option available is 3 day (passport and card). Very quick and professional service though.

Did they ask for any supporting documents (such as airline tickets, travel itinerary etc) to justify 'same-day' passport+card application? Can you share your experience in more detail?

They ask for original cert of naturalization, travel itinerary and pay them by credit card or cash/check. I insisted on same day passport and card, they mentioned that it is possible only if the itinerary shows same day travel (which was not my case). I tried to argue that getting visa needs few days too, but the guy was not convinced. They are helpful but strict. Other than that no supporting doc is required...there is a link on travel.state.gov which says how to get passport in a hurry, please follow that and it provides details correctly.

mohu got a same-day passport in San Francisco recently. His flight was the following evening and when the Passport office told him to come back the next day and pick up the passport, he told them that wouldn't work as TSA needs the flight manifest 24 hrs ahead of the flight. (he got the pp the same afternoon).
Please don't misuse this option as there are people who do need this facility in an emergency and it would be a travesty if it got shut down due to misuse.

You are right. I have seen some folks misusing it which is totally wrong. In my case my firm is sending me to UK for a project after which i plan to visit india and hence needed visa/PIO in time and hence the reason for expedite. Today i will get passport and card afterwhich the fight for PIO continues...:)
