FOIPA request and time line

Hi,

Do you know once we request a FOIPA request from FBI,
how long it takes for them to get back to you by snail mail?

My address may change in 6 weeks, so want to know. I heard,
if you give a forwarding address to USPS and there are mails
from the government, it gets turned back to sender and is

not forwarded. Is this true. Any experience. Pls share.

I got it in 46 days.
 
Both. I got reply one week after they received my document sent by mail. I am not sure whether its their response to fax or mail. Do notarize your FOIPA request. Last time (3 months ago) I didn't Notarize my request so never got any reply from FBI.

Oh I didnt know it had to be notarized. Do u have a template that you can share for the FOIPA request letter ? Thanks for your help

After faxing the reqeust, I called in the number on the FBI site. The person who is incharge said, they need the original signature. If you request for yourself, it need not be notorized. But they dont accept fax signature. So I mailed my request and waiting for the reply now.

But if you request about some one else's records, it has to be notorized.
 
Can anyone pls share the letter format of FOIPA request to FBI and also the fax number and address where it has to be mailed.

I want to request for me and my wife. So Should we send 2 separate requests? One signed by her and another signed by me. Both not notarized ?
 
Could some explain.

I filed for FOIA an year ago and did not receive the documents yet, in the last communication they sent a letter saying that my number is around 8000 in the list of 80000+ requests.

For Name check I sent a mail and a fax to the FBI office 9 months ago and did not get any response back... how is that you people get the response in week's time?

Sorry to hear that. I downloaded and filled FOIPA form, got it notarized. I faxed one copy and Mailed the original form using priority mail. That's all I did.

Thanks for ur help. Couple questions for u.

1) In the link u sent, there is no application form that can be downloaed and filled. There are 2 PDF files for privacy and request instrcutions. Can u pls point us to the request application form ?


2) In the instruction for, it asks us to state how much we are willing
to pay if any fee is assesed for duplication. What did u say for this ?

Is this the form. Pls let us know. This form needs to be notarised, is it ? Do u also need to send the privacy waiver and certification of identity ? Is that to be notarized too ? Thanks for ur help

The form doesn't say anything about money but the instruction says
I should state how much I'm willing to pay.

How much people usually pay for this and does it expedite things or something ?
 
I mailed Privacy act form only.

before sending the Privacy request form, what we have to mention on that Form other than name and date of birth, we have to specify I-485 Alien#.

Also what max. amount of fees and what to select

Could you please send details of it that would be great for everyone, who are stucked in Name Check Lon time and last time stucked in Retrogression due to Name Check Pending, So the loop is getting developed, So Pl.let us know

They just ask you to fill Name, DOB and place of birth. Fill in everything on the privacy act form. You donot need to provide I-485 Alien #. There is no column about money. I didnot sent any money.
I am also stuck in name check- retrogression loop.
