I have GC since last 4 yrs. I was fired couple weeks ago. I have a found a job that starts after new year. In the meantime, am I eligible for unemployment. Will applying for unemployment benefits cause problems with Citizenship or my new employer. My new employer doesn't know I got canned (because i got canned after I accepted the new job).

Please help

No and no. Employment status has no effect on naturalization. You can be a complete bum and still naturalize. As far as your new employer is concerned, you were fired AFTER you accepted their offer, therefore, you didn't lie on your resume or employment interview. Go ahead and file for unemployment.
 
Thanks. One more question, will UI show up on credit history or my background check. I am worried that my new employer when doing background check may find this.

A friend of mine is currently receiving unemployment and it hasn't affected his credit score/report. I highly doubt that it'll show up on any background checks either. Usually, background checks are conducted to find out about any possible criminal activities and/or to verify the information on your resume. I've never heard of HR departments checking unemployment information.
