"Fingerprint not available" on GC--Help please

Hi all,

My friend received his GC 4 years ago. The spot for FP says 'Fingerprint not available'. He checked with the local office and they said he can continue to use same GC (No need for new one).
Now he needs to travel (to India) but he is very uncomfortable.

Do you think there would be any problems? Does anybody has similar experience?

If he needs to file for I-90, is there any option in the form for missing information? (Or should it go under 'wrong information' category?)
