Dear friends,

I have been out of the forum since more than two weeks, u gonna say why, here is my story :

I had my DV interview visa on 8 august 2013 at 10 AM, all my documents was OK except one which was the celibacy document, i was so surprised because there is nothing on the website that says i need that docuement ( because it talks only about marriage document) so they give me back my passeport but i signed and i swear in front of the consult, i went in the same day to do the document and i did it quick in french i get back in the consulate and i find it closed :(

well it was the holiday ( the end of ramadan) i returned monday, when i went there i give my passeport and my missing document, and they told me they gonna call me, well i waited a lot, the longest two weeks in my life looool, i was thinking that they wont give it to me or i will have an AP, well they call last friday and they told me to come get my passport today monday, that what i did , i just got it with the visa in it.

WHat a long road , it was more than 14 months that i was waiting, now the US doors are opened for me, thanks god, a new life are waiting for me, as i said , i lived as student for more than 4 years in the US, i have never blieved that i will return one day, and yes i will return inchalah now as immigrant , in the land of the opportunity, i love u USA

Thanks to aaaaaaaaaaalll my friends for their help, it was so helpful, thanks to raevsky who was right ( they were needing the high school diplomas event that i have master and bachelor from USA ) thanks to my dear friend simon and MOMO ( we will play tennis) and to all all friends here who help us, god bless u

Applying for citizenship with a misdemeanor

Hi Everyone!

I dont know where else to find answers so i thought i'd post this thread hoping that somebody would share some of their experience or knowledge. Back in 2004 i was given a traffic ticket, i paid the fine and went to a traffic school.. (it's for failure to stop at a stop sign). In 2006, i did a very stupid mistake and took someone's sim card from a cellphone, and put it on my cellphone so i can download games with it. Then i was caught and they pressed charges. On Sept 2008, I was called to the court and i was charged two misdemeanors (1 for petty theft of the sim card and 1 for embezzlement), i had to pay a restitution of $100, the judge dismissed the petty theft leaving only the embezzlement. I was ordered to serve 30 days in county jail and finished 3-year probation. In 2010 i had this record expunged --> But of course that doesn't mean anything to the immigration, you cannot retract the original sentence. In 2012, I contacted an immigration attorney about my case because my green card has expired and i need to renew asap! But because a lot of people saying that i could get deported, i hired a lawyer to be in a safe side and fortunately i was able to renew without problems. Now, it has been 5 years since my sentence, I contacted again my lawyer and he said we are now okay to file for citizenship because i have reached 5 years of good moral character. My lawyer strongly advised me not to file for myself because my N-400 could get denied. My case is not an aggravated felony because my lawyer said, no lawyer will represent an aggravated felon because that is an automatic bar from any immigration benefits. I am just very worried, my question is what are my chances of getting my citizenship approved? can i take my lawyer with me to the interview so he can represent me when it comes to questions regarding my misdemeanor? Thank you all and I appreciate all feedback.

----> ooops im sorry i think i posted this under someone's thread? i truly apologize i am kinda new here and still getting familiarized on how to use the site.

Congratulations Princedriss! :D

Yes, it is a long road and a very long wait, something we can all sympathize with. Despite thinking otherwise, it does take an emotional toll on everyone who goes through with it because it means a big change and a whole different future. I can imagine those 2 weeks you had to wait caused you quite a bit of stress but I'm glad it turned out well for you. All the best!

thank u guys for ur wishes, and u may have the best too

Momo, we will meet for sure , let us know ur first impression of the US :)

Congrats dear and i really wish you the best of your journey back to the US. Be blessed

I can see that you had police clearance from TZ and UK and probably because you lived in both countries.

My question is, my wife spent 9 months in Kenya. Does it mean that she needs police clearance from there too?

Thanks
