why don't we WaitWait until Rajiv come back with suggestions?
I am sure he'll pick up most minor flaws in the petition. As to 19 or 20 months, I'd say leave it as is.

I have made some corrections, as pointed by dengdeng. I really don't know if we have to confuse Rajiv with so many corrected copies, but if he is following this thread, then here is the corrected copy. ( Rajiv's team will correct it in anyway)

Among your suggestions, i have omitted those that i found are not appropriate or not required .
1. "we request you" is better than "we would like to request you" because "would like to request" indicates an intension to request which is not the case.
2. "kindly" is enough. "please kindly" is too much.
3. Other sentence formations are OK in American English.

Revised I-485 Petition
I have looked over the formal proposal and made some minor changes....I am a technical writer and a project manager! Please note if I have over stepped any boundaries. I will delete the version I moddified if requested...

How many Board members does it take to change a light bulb?
-1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
-14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
-7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
-27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
-53 to flame the spell checkers
-41 to correct spelling/grammar flames
-6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive
-2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
