I have a question about filling 485 form
Do we get a A# when we get the practical training approved?
Do we have to fill that number on 485 form?
Thanks in advance

EAD card

Thanks dengdeng.
I had practical training, but unfortunately I am miiding that card.
I don\'t have a copy of it also.
Would that be a problem?

Should be no problem. Lawyer told me that\'s not important.

Do you have copy of your H-1 filing? I found my EAD copy there. Usually lawyer
gave you a copy of your H-1 filing after you are aprroved for H-1 and there
should be a copy.

Or the number maybe on your H-1 if your lawyer gave the number to INS when filing
H-1

Thanks again.
I checked that first.
I don\'t have a full copy of my H1.That was my 1st H1 and way back in 97. I subsequently got 2 other H1\'s and in none of them they asked me this.
Hope this would not be big problem if I could not find it.
Thanks again for your prompt reply.

Do not use old EAD A# from practical training days

Use the one in the I140 approval. If it is not there, leave it blank. You will be assigned a new one in the 485 receipt. Your old A# may be reassigned to somebody else...

Thanks Jaxen.
I have not mailed my 485 yet.
I did not get an A# with my I-140.
So do you also have a similar case?
I have asked my lawyer, has\'nt replied yet.

I\'ve never known of anyone to get an A number with the I-140.

If you do not have an A number, the answer is "NONE". Don\'t leave the question blank.

Then you need to learn and update your knowledge

After the approval of the I-140 application an A# is assigned.

It makes a lot of sense too. You apply for an immigrant visa (I-140) and if you application is approved, an immigrant visa number / alien number A#) is assigned to you.

The I-485 is only to adjust status while in the US - the other option being Consular Processing.

Alien Number comes with I140 too....

TSC has known to do this.... Lawyer asked us to leave it blank. I485 receipt had the same A#...

You have the right to your opinion

I am putting here the facts as I know them.

Feel free to check on the INS website, and your lawyer. My law firm happens to be the largest of its kind in the world....What gives?

What is the correct info.?

Do you have an answer to that or are you one of those guys who don\'t know much about immigration matters, but who see it as their right to respond to as many posts as possible - with incomplete responses.

Read some of my postings over the last three years and determine for yourself whether I know anythin

Why did you feel it necessary to make it a personal attack. I\'ve seen HUNDREDS on I-140 approval notices and I don\'t recall a single one that had an A number on it.

But, let\'s go back to basics. An "A" number is an Alien Registration number and it does not change once it is assigned. The only way that an "A" number would be indicated on the I-140 approval notice is if it had ALREADY been assigned to that alien. Typically, "A" numbers are assigned when an alien applies for AOS, CP or when a person enters removal proceedings.

This also explains Jaxen\'s post and why TSC "sometimes" lists A numbers on I-140 approval notices and why the same A number was reflected on the I-485 receipt notice. The alien in question here apparently ALREADY had an A number for some reason.

Addressed to "vscwaiter100"

My comments were addressed to "vscwaiter100" as he said made a comment on my posting.

I don\'t know if that is one of your aliases or you were looking for a pat on your back for "some of my postings over the last three years".

Either way I don\'t really give a s***.

VSCWaiter100 did not make that statement, I did. Please address your response to me

I have never operated under any other alias\' since I began posting on the previous board (before this site transited to this new format). My comment was no looking for a pat on the back, rather it was a response to your derisive comments regarding my lack of immigration knowledge.

I certainly don\'t need a pat on the back from you Rajesh, I consider the source.

Law Firm?

1. Read before you write. If it helps, read it a second time.

2. This is my last posting in response to yours, and I am just curious about a statement you made: "I\'ve seen HUNDREDS on I-140 approval notices and I don\'t recall a single one that had an A number on it."

- are you a law firm clerk?

I-140 A#

I just received my approval notice of I-140 which shows a new A# different from previous # on my EAD CARD (PRACTICAL TRAINING).

I have an A number on my I-140 approval

The A number on I-140 approval notice is 8-digits number. But another A number on my old EAD is a 9-digits number. FYI, my case is in TSC.
